Learn the basics of papermaking, including techniques for embedding objects into your paper and in the afternoon create and print a simple block print and dabble in the process of a pressed monoprint. A day devoted to creativity and discovery.

Thanks to South Simcoe Arts Council for their portable printing press.

Mary is an instructor with the internationally acclaimed Rufus Porter Museum in Maine. You will create a beautiful Porter Style painting on a prepared floorcloth and learn how to prepare your own floorcloth for future endeavours.

Using modern materials, students will recreate the strokes and designs of the past on a reproduction ‘antique’ bun bowl. Some experience helpful but not necessary. The basic strokes will be taught in advance so the student will feel confident painting on the bowl.

“Stitch & Sew” basic quilting for beginners. Ideas on how to select a quilting pattern, pick a colour combination, learn how to assemble two quilting squares and complete a small project. Please bring your own thimble if you have one.
