Call to Artists – King Township Public Library “Celebrate King: Acoustic Art Installation”
The King Township Public Library (KTPL) is about to embark on an exciting interior enhancement project – one that will provide King Township artists and current Arts Society King members with a platform to showcase their work and, at the same time, provide much-needed sound-dampening paneling to improve the acoustics at the King City branch.
The KTPL’s Advocacy and Fundraising Committee is seeking submissions from artists of artwork that reflects the project’s “Celebrate King” theme (e.g. landscapes, barns, horses, buildings, local wildlife, etc.). Mediums can include painting, photography and textile. Submissions are due January 15, 2025.
Images will be transferred onto sound-dampening panels and displayed at the King City library on the walls surrounding the main staircase for a period of five years. A total of 34 images is required.
Artists will be acknowledged for donating their artwork image(s) through an artist recognition wall at the library and through social media and other promotional channels. The “oversize” image of their artwork will be proudly and prominently displayed at the library for a period of five years.
All artwork submitted will be adjudicated by a committee. Selection and placement of the images are at the discretion of the committee.
Successful and unsuccessful artists will be notified by email by March 1, 2025. Successful artists will be required to bring their artwork on a designated day to a designated location (to be determined) in March 2025 to be photographed.
A public event will be held at the library in Spring 2025 to celebrate the new acoustic art installation.
Submission requirements:
- This call is open to any artists in King Township or current members of Arts Society King
- Artists may submit existing or new artwork that reflects the Celebrate King theme
- Artists will keep the original artwork and will not be financially compensated for the use of the artwork’s image(s) in this installation
- The installation requires specific sizes of panels, and artwork images should scale to the required sizes:
# | Size of Panels | Aspect Ratio | # Landscape Needed | # Portrait Needed |
1 | 48” x 36” | 4 : 3 | 6 | 5 |
2 | 36” x 24” | 3 : 2 | 6 | 5 |
3 | 30” x 24” | 4 : 5 | 7 | 1 |
4 | 30” x 16” | 15 : 8 | 3 | 1 |

- Submission must include the title of the artwork, a short description of the work (e.g. location, what inspired it, relevance to King Township, etc.), recommended panel # (1, 2, 3 or 4, as above) and orientation (landscape or portrait)
- Artwork that does not scale to one of the four required sizes can be cropped by the artist. If a piece requires cropping, the artist must submit images of both the original artwork and the cropped artwork.

Summary of submission requirements for each submission (up to four):
