Meet the Artists

Naghmeh Ahmadi

I am a visual artist with over twenty years of experience in painting. Throughout my career, I have held several solo exhibitions in Iran and Toronto. In 2021, I was selected to participate in the international Amsterdam Art Fair, and in 2020, I was recognized as Best Textile Designer at the London Fashion & Art Exhibition. I have also taken part in multiple group exhibitions across Toronto. For more than five years, I have been teaching painting to students of all ages, from children to adults, while continuing to develop my artistic practice across different mediums and styles.

Lisa Allshire

Lisa Allshire creates landscape and still life paintings in oil in her North Toronto studio. A lifelong painter originally from Ireland, her influences are broad, but Dutch realism has had a lasting influence on her work, particularly her still life. In her landscapes, she combines sharp realism with areas of thick impasto paint to capture the play of light. Recently she has begun to paint on shaped supports. Our memory records specific elements and moments that are of interest to us rather than a snapshot of everything that we observe. Her work on shaped surfaces expresses this viewpoint.

Susie Cattedra

Susie Cattedra is a self-taught, award-winning artist who exhibited a natural talent at a young age and enjoys finding connections with others through her artwork. Susie’s transition from graphite to acrylics allowed her to immerse herself in the world of colour and gave her a new appreciation of the variations that are presented to us daily. The subject matter, either simple or complex, provides the opportunity for her to grow as an artist. Susie’s paintings have found their way into permanent collections, from multiple pieces gracing the walls of the Mayor of King Townships’ office, local collectors and overseas.

Wendy Cho

Wendy CHO studied Design at OCAD, specializing in Illustration. She began exhibiting her work in 2012 under her studio name, once upon a design. Since then, her art has been featured at numerous venues, including the Preston Gallery, the One of a Kind Show, Riverdale Artwalk, Artwalk Square, the Rosedale Art Fair, and the McKay Art Centre.

Alexandra K Conrad

Alexandra K. Conrad is a professional fine art artist with over three decades of art creation experience. Graduated with honours from OCAD University besides two other faculties (geography and mining engineering) that she completed earlier. Member of Richmond Hill Group of Artist, Art Society King, Portrait Society of Canada, Associate member Society of Canadian Artist. Paints: landscapes, cityscapes, portraits, nature and abstracts in oil and acrylic. Uses warm and vibrant colours applied with energetic brush strokes or palette knife. Enjoys other media including woodcuts. She carves her designs in wood panels and prints by hands. Some prints she hand colours.

Nonie Dauphinais

I am primarily a self taught artist but workshops and numerous classes have guided me along the way. My art journey over the years has allowed me to experiment with a variety of different media. Fluid art has been the most exciting discovery. It embodies freedom of expression. There are few boundaries beyond the size of the canvas. The minimalist interpretation created by the interplay of the paints expresses what I have taken from a scene in the world around me. My hope is that each work will be a springboard to a thought or memory in you, the viewer.

Patricia Earl

Pat Earl began taking courses and workshops whenever time and opportunity allowed when her children were very young. Over time and with practice, watercolour and acrylics became her medium of choice. She doesn’t have to travel far to find subjects that inspire her.  The gentle rolling hills, farmlands, forests, and wild flowers that she loves to paint are found in abundance in Ontario’s countryside.  Her painterly and colourful approach to her painting subjects have won several awards and honorariums with the Richmond Hill Group of Artists, and with Arts Society King.

Andrea End

Andrea End’s inspiration is the sunlight – its colours and shapes that are created in the forests and on the lakes of the Canadian scenery. Her practice is informed by her photographic documentation of the countryside. Andrea participates in numerous juries shows, group shows and solo shows, primarily in the Greater Toronto area. Her work is features in the permanent collection of the Richmond Hill Central Public Library of the City of the Richmond Hill.

Jacqueline England

Jacqueline has worked in various mediums, such as pastel, watercolour, gouache, acrylic, graphite and also oil. She decided to continue with oils as she loved the intense colour that could be achieved using them. When she paints, it is imperative that she strives to create photo-realism, especially for her horses, as they brought back memories, as she felt her paint brush move over the details of the head, find the light in their eyes, feel the muscles of their beautiful bodies.

Donna Greenstein

After retiring from her teaching career, Donna began painting what she grew in the garden using precise watercolor botanicals then progressing to farm animals and bird subjects. She especially loved painting her own cows, dogs, cats, and fowl. Now she enjoys using both oils and watercolours. In 2014, 2015 and 2021 Donna showed in the “McMichael Autumn Art Show” in Kleinburg and many “Studio Tour King”, “Schomberg Street Gallery” and other art shows. She has been granted awards in some of these shows. If one really loves nature, one can find beauty everywhere. (Vincent Van Gogh)

Working in acrylic, watercolour, oils, charcoal, pastels, and mixed media, she focuses on surface texture, material exploration, and expressive colour. Her practice includes floral works, seascapes, cityscapes, and abstract landscapes shaped by both urban and natural environments. Guided by rhythm and atmosphere, her paintings translate shifting light, weather, and time into layered compositions that evoke emotion rather than narrative. Everyone knows how it looks; Valeria paints how it feels. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is held in private and corporate collections worldwide.

Veronica Meloche

As an artist, I am intrigued by the application of paints, slips and glazes and the memory of human touch on the canvas and clay. My most recent vessels are named the “Great Lakes Series” and combine driftwood salvaged from the beach shore after the winter storms. They are heavily altered and textured with many layers of slips and glaze. Even after life’s storms there can be growth and beauty. The driftwood battered and weathered in the waves, bleached and cured from sand and sun. The ceramic growths transformed in the kiln. There is resilience in the material and process.

Hans Martin

An interest in painting became a hobby once I retired. I was able to take watercolour painting instruction from Donnah Cameron II, join the Society of York Region Artists and Arts Society King and develop my skills. I have been able to take part in many workshops and exhibits over the years and have been fortunate to earn a number of awards.

Mary Morganelli

Inspired by the natural beauty of Ontario’s landscapes, Mary Morganelli, the artist behind Mariellart Gallery, has brought together her lifelong passion of painting and love of nature where secret gems of hidden ponds are discovered within forests, and sunsets leave skies in unbelievable bursts of color. These stunning moments have been captured on canvas to live on in their glory; this is her World of Color.

Ivanka Pipinikova

In her work Ivanka is inspired by nature landscapes. She is always fascinated by the amazing colors of the seasons, reflections in the water of the various lakes and rivers. Figures of people have also always been a source of inspiration for her. She mainly paints with oils, but she is continuously exploring and experimenting with other mediums. Constantly growing and evolving as an artist, Ivanka aims to create beautiful, impactful art that conveys the feeling and mood of a moment in a way that the viewer can become a part of it.

Jacqueline Raynor

When Jacqueline discovered the encaustic process she knew she’d found her medium; she is always thrilled to walk into her studio and smell the heady aroma of beeswax, a reminder of summer gardens. Lately her artwork has explored colour and texture in nature: her pieces feature whimsical hearts, flowers and weeds, prairies, abstract seascapes and landscapes, all in glorious encaustic colour! Jacqueline studied at OCAD and TMU and has exhibited at Studio Tour King, Rosedale Art Fair, Artwalk Square, Guild Alive With Culture, Kawartha Arts Festival, Oakville Art in the Park and Uxbridge Art in the Park.

I’ve been showing my work (juried art shows, live art events, art demonstrations and Studio Tours) since 2002 and also teach mixed media journaling/intuitive painting in live, online and private home classes.
