Here is what the participating artists had to say:

Anni Bretschneider

I want to put in writing how exquisite the timing was for the resources Andrew Judd shared along with the art principles and tips he focused on.  It feels rather serendipitous.  I think we all got some really good info today that will help in everyone’s creative process.

Caroline Davey

Andrew is a very knowledgeable artist and he is most generous in sharing his expertise and life experience. His friendly and engaging teaching style is very conducive to my learning. Lastly, I have attended several art lab workshops, they are great opportunities to learn and meet/interact with other artists especially ASK members!

Ida de Maria

Participating in Andrew Judd’s art lab was a valuable experience. It deepened my understanding of various techniques and individual artistic styles. I appreciated how attentively he listened and how his demonstrations thoughtfully addressed my questions.

Donna Greenstein

Andrew suggested painting the same subject over and over again using different techniques, using the Notanizer app to minimize the image to 2 values – white and black, using gesso and acrylic to start a textured oil painting and the names of some artists that he loves. I also enjoy the camaraderie with like-minded local artists.

Susan Walker-Ing

I have been to several Art Labs over the past few years and I really appreciate the opportunity to hear another artists’ voice and style. The Andrew Judd art lab was exactly that… offering a view into the artist mind in creating a different style to which I work. It opens your eyes to new possibilities. I hope these Art Labs will continue because they do invest in artists’ creativity and the differences that lie there…investing in creativity is always a win.

Lynn Wilson

I have enjoyed each and every one of ASK’s Art Lab’s (missed one only)! No matter what the presenting artist’s medium is, I have always come away with a new bit of technical knowledge to use in my art plus new creative inspiration. Andrew Judd’s class yesterday was great! Not only is he is an incredibly talented artist, a great presenter and a very nice person!

In developing the Art Lab Series of workshops in King, it was my vision to import internationally acclaimed artists who were also instructors with a passion for teaching. The first of these was Andrew Cheddie Sookrah of Landscape Artist of the Year fame, and who teaches through the McMichael Gallery. Then came Marek Badzinski of Urban Sketchers, a world-wide group who focus on architecture, held at the King City Senior’s Centre. Next Roslyn Levin, master of the exquisite Japanese brush artform, Sumi-e at the Schomberg Community Hall. Andrew Judd  first gave an En Plein Air workshop on the Staritt’s beautiful estate with its old forests and fine kettle lake. Then Michele Van Maurik, whose heroic flowers showed at the Louvre. And most recently, Andrew Judd for a second Art Lab, this time an exploratory in-studio workshop at Zancor.
